UX Must Have's

Rethinging Touch Interactions

Lately, clients and coworkers are trying to touch my laptop screen when sharing work with them... *insert eye-roll here*. This has lead me to further observe how we interact with our devices leading me to design for all screen sizes as if they are touch interfaces. Ensuring touch targets are meeting accessibility standards even at 'desktop' screen sizes.

Color Scales & Tokenizing

Weather your a color expert or a minimalist, inclusive design needs to be the center of your work. Meeting contrast ratios for elements is a non-negotiable. I have now taken the approach with brands utilizing color to create a scale for their digital interface. An extension of their brand color(s) to ensure accessibility in every element throughout the digital interface.

Building for Scalability

I believe in simplifying design systems when possible. Looking at component and how we can break it down to be in it's most basic state. Then, amplifying this simplicity to really let each clients personality shape this simple element in each instance. Through variables, keeping the component build basic but using variables to set rules if one brand wants a border, another doesn't, another wants it rounded, etc. Creating basic needs but allowing for creatives and clients to use those building blocks and really amplify their brand essence.

Interactivity & Animation

Small but meaningful interactions can change a users feel about their experience. I've sprinkled these micro animations throughout this site. Check out the contact form, hovers of all the buttons when on a desktop interface or the mobile menu. Throughout projects, I include autoplay micro animations on mobile devices when able. These tasteful details can change how a user feels about their journey and keep them coming back.
